Sometimes you need just one chapter from a large report, a single certificate from a multi-page PDF, or every page saved as its own file. Splitting is the right tool for all of these scenarios.
Split vs. Extract: Which Do You Need?
Split the entire PDF: Every page becomes a separate file. Useful when distributing individual documents that were merged into one PDF for delivery.
Extract specific pages: Choose which pages or ranges to pull out as a new PDF. Useful when you only need part of a larger document.
Remove pages: Delete specific pages from a PDF without extracting them. Use PDF Page Remover for this.
How to Split a PDF with ToolzStack
Option 1: Split every page
- Go to PDF Split
- Upload your PDF
- Choose Split all pages — each page becomes its own PDF
- Download a ZIP file containing all pages
Option 2: Extract specific pages
- Go to Extract Pages from PDF
- Upload your PDF
- Enter the page numbers or range (e.g.,
3, or5-10) - Download the extracted PDF
Option 3: Organise and reorder first
If you want to rearrange pages before splitting, use Organize PDF to drag pages into the correct order, then split or extract from the reorganised version.
Practical Examples
Scenario: You received a 40-page PDF contract. You need pages 1–5 (the summary) and page 38 (the signature page).
→ Use Extract Pages: enter 1-5, 38 as your range.
Scenario: A scanned book was delivered as one large PDF. You want each page as its own file to process individually.
→ Use Split all pages to get a ZIP of individual page PDFs.
Scenario: You want to remove a confidential page from a document before sharing it.
→ Use PDF Page Remover — this removes pages rather than extracting them.
After Splitting: What to Do Next
- Compress large extracted pages with the PDF compressor
- Merge extracted pages back in a different order with PDF Merge
- Rename each file descriptively before distributing
